She was born on 29 March 1985 in Roswell New Mexico. Gerina Michelle is her birth name. Gerina Stevenson was born in Mexico in the family of Mexican parents Alan Stevenson and Rita Stevenson. Her heritage is Mexican American however she has an American citizenship. Ever since she was young, she's been very keen on playing sports. Gerina began to play golf at the age of 15. Gerina graduated from high school at Goddard High School. While in highschool, Gerina won her first prize at the New Mexico golf state tournament. In addition to the sport of volleyball, she played on the state level. She attended the University of Texas in 2003. During the senior seasons of her professional career, she was the winner of every event where she played. In her undergraduate years she was awarded the title of Conference USA Female Athlete and Conference USA Individual Player of the Years.
